Behind the Threshold is a deeply personal dive into the heart of darkness lurking in the corners of the human mind. It is a slow but relentless descent into the abyss of madness and an all-consuming fear of the inevitable end, which creeps closer with every tick of the kitchen clock. A simple way home turns into a route toward one’s own liquidation. One house. Your fortress, which in a single evening becomes a trap where the walls tighten with every hour, and the familiar everyday life begins to bleed with inexplicable anxiety.

Waking up in a world you thought was yours, you discover that it is infected with invisible decay. Here, silence sounds louder than any scream, and the sound of a microwave running behind a neighbor's door seems like an echo of your own life, stolen by someone else. Familiar rituals - taking out the trash, checking the mail, locking the door - turn into a mechanical confession before the finale. When you find your own reflection on your bed, the mirror of reality shatters forever. What was once a safe home is now just a dense, suffocating void where the walls close in to crush the extra object.

You are about to find out whether you are in the real world or not, making your way through the grainy haze of decaying memory. This is a journey into a liminal state, where the boundary between physical existence and digital non-being thins to the limit. It is a slow, viscous descent into a space where low-poly shadows conceal something more than just the absence of light, and the trembling textures of walls seem like the skin of a dying creature. 

The game is made in the PSX style, reviving the aesthetic of old hardware, to convey through noise and jagged pixel edges the cold tremor before a reality that constantly threatens to crumble into pieces.
